John served in the United States Navy and loved living near the beach, boating, fishing, building custom deep sea rods and cooking. He is predeceased by his mother Margaret Inez Peters Farmer and several cousins. John is survived by sister Carol and husband Jim Ogle of Gatlinburg, sister Becky and husband Skip Brooks of Tuscaloosa, neice Kelly and husband Scottie Wolfe of Strawberry Plains, neice and nephew Erin and Zack Brooks of Tuscaloosa, aunt and uncle Willadean and LaMar Higdon of Maryville, dear friend Dick Marcus of Virginia, father Bob Peters of Michigan and a host of other relatives. John has been cremated. A memorial service and scattering of ashes will be Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Bethel Cemetary in Townsend at 11am.
